Recipe for Bunny Bread Buns ウサギちゃんのパン・レシピ

I recently bought these large animal bread molds and decided to use it to bake some kawaii bread to enjoy for my breakfast.

I used the bunny cutter (see pink one below) to make the rabbit bread buns – aren’t they cute! For some, I also combined the use of the body cutter of Cutezcute’s Cuddle Palz to make a full body bunny. I loved the end result of the full body bunny too!:)

It was really convenient to use the big animal bread molds since I made the bread last night and did not want to spent too much time molding the bread.

The cutters come in a set of 3 shapes: rabbit, bear and pig. They comprise of the outer shapes as well as the inner features of the characters. I used the bunny one this time. There is also a recipe at the back of the pack (have yet to try it) and nice pictorial guide on how to use the cutters.

Also really happy to use the Panasonic Bread Maker again, so that I can make the bread dough easily and quickly too.

If you don’t have a bread maker, just place all in the ingredients in a large mold, mix well. Then transfer to your work top to knead for about 15mins or until the dough is smooth and stretchy. Cover and let it rise for about 60mins until doubled in size. Then divide the dough into 6-7 even balls. Cover and let it rest for 2nd rise (10mins). Roll them out to make the same rabbit cut outs as this recipe. Cover the rabbit bread and rest for 10mins before baking.

Recipe Tutorial for Rabbit Bread Buns

(makes about 8-10 bread buns)

Ingredients for bread
bread flour 280g

sugar 36g
egg 25g (*save the remaining egg for egg wash)
milk 140ml
water 20ml
butter 50g
instant dry yeast 1tsp

(2) Add in sieved flour, salt, sugar, egg, and unsalted butter. The pour the milk and water around the sides.
(3) Put the bread pan into the main body of the bread maker machine. Close the first lid.
(4) Pour the dry yeast into the yeast dispenser. Close the top lid.
(5) Select Menu ‘9’. Press ‘Start’. It will take about 1 hour.
(6) When you hear the beep sounds, press ‘Stop’
(7) Remove the bread pan from the bread maker machine and take out the bread dough. Transfer the bread dough to your worktop.
(8) Divide the bread dough into 6-7 even parts, and shape into round balls. Cover with a lint free damp cloth and let it rest for 10 mins.
(9) Roll out the round ball, use the bread mold and cut out the rabbit head.
*if you like the full body, then use the body part of the Cuddle Palz to cut the body. Then pinch a small ball for its tail.

(10) Repeat for all the bread buns.
(11) Combine the leftover bread buns and try to make 1-2 additional bunny bread buns. Then shape the last bit of surplus into a round bread ball.

(12) After all the character bread is formed, cover and allow the bread buns to ferment and rise for about 45mins until they almost double their original size.
(13) Brush the bread with egg wash and bake them at 170C for about 20mins until nicely brown.
