Winnie the Pooh Bento

Winnie the Pooh Bento (2)

I woke up this morning, thinking to myself – what should I make? Had a late night yesterday as my husband was back from a work trip so I went to the airport. Did not have the energy to do pre-planning and sketching like I usually do.

So.. in the morning I took out 2 eggs from the fridge thinking of making egg sheets, then suddenly the thought of Winnie the Pooh came into my mind. Ah! Lets make a Winnie the Pooh Bento~

Winnie the Pooh rice ball was made from rice and egg yolks (2) You can reduce to one if you are more health-conscious. It just means that the rice might look less yellow but it will work just fine.

The facial features were made from seaweed cut using scissors freehand.

I also used my Winnie the Pooh cutters and make two cute carrot slices.

The side dishes include grilled king oyster mushrooms (known as eringi in Japanese), sauteed kailan vegatables, lettuce, broccoli and teriyaki salmon. This is the season for mushroom, as we approach autumn, the mushroom variety becomes more and cheaper too.

Today’s bento was packed in my lunch box from Afternoon Tea. One of my favourite lifestyle stores in Japan. The bento box even won Good Design Award 2013. In collaboration with designer Nezu Kota, this bento box has a heat resistant body, a silicon lid and a lovely natural wooden cover. Even though it looks small, it is actually a good 500ml size, more than enough for ladies.
